Reviews of the 55th Annual Championships Tournament were positive with plans of increasing participation for 2012. A detailed discussion was had from the President's Report on her attendance at the ATA 94th Championships in Atlanta. A National Ranking Committee and Membership Committee were called into existence by President Franklyn Scott at the Annual Membership Meeting. MID-TAC followed suit and established its own Section Ranking Committee.

MID-TAC's Coaches and Instructors Committee is poised to have at least two additional Coaches Connection Junior Camps before the close of the year. Plans were also  shared for launching the 2nd Annual "Friends of MID-TAC Juniors" Holiday Raffle October 20 to December 11, 2011. The new Research and Development Chairperson, Roger Allen, attended his first MID-TAC Meeting and left armed with pertinent information to solicit funds on behalf of MID-TAC's Junior Development efforts with new vigor and purpose.

The key accomplishment of the Meeting, however, was the adoption of MID-TAC's Policy and Procedurals Manual that was developed under the supervision of Parliamentarian, Richard Brown of Detroit, MI, [click here for copy]. The Manual was adopted by a unanimous vote of all eleven of MID-TAC Member Clubs - each represented at the Meeting.

MID-TAC is in good shape and ready to move to the next level. A call out was also made for people interested in being trained as tournament directors, site directors and site director assistants. Contact the President for details at mdorsey@acninc.net.

THE PASSING OF MIDTAC'S OWN, RICHARD BRADLEY
MIDTAC is in mourning over the lost of one of our most stalwart leaders, Richard Bradley, who passed in Chicago, Illinois on Sunday, February 28, 2010 after a battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease. He leaves to mourn his wife, Melba Bradley, and a host of family and loving friends. Services were held at St. Columbanus Parish in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, March 6, 2010.
.
Richard served as President of the American Tennis Association (ATA), Midwestern Tennis Association (MIDTAC), Chicago Prairie Tennis Club (CPTC) and Greater Chicago Community Tennis Association (GCCTA), as well as having been a dedicated volunteer for the USTA Midwest Section's Board of Directors from 2000-2003 as Secretary and Treasurer and a member of several Section Committees and locally for the Chicago District. There isn't a Chicago tennis organization that wasn't affected by the influence and help of Richard Bradley, Love To Serve Tennis Academy being one of his most outstanding contributions.
.
He attended Rushville Public Schools, Rushville, Indiana and graduated with Honors from Rushville High School in 1953. In 1957, he graduated with Honors from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, and he received a Masters of Arts Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Roosevelt University, Chicago, Illinois, in 1962. While attending Indiana University, he pledged into the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. In 1957, he became a Chicago Public Schools elementary teacher and subsequently became a teacher of adults, assistant principal and principal. He retired from Oliver Wendell Holmes Elementary School as Principal in August, 1993. To celebrate his accomplishments in the tennis world, the city of Rushville (his hometown) named the high school tennis courts, "The Richard Bradley Tennis Center."
.
Richard was also an avid golfer, he participated in the Better Love Yourself organization, providing trunks containing vital supplies for incoming college fresmen in the Chicagoland area, #1 supporter of singer, Terisa Griffin, and a major supporter of the Chicago Assembly.
Richard will be missed by all who knew him and a blessing to all who will benefit from the years of commitment that he poured into the development of the game of tennis and every other area of interest that he participated in.
.
Please continue praying for the Bradley clan, who has lost their hero and we say to RIchard,
.
"Rest in peace our brother for a life that was well done".

.
Midwestern Tennis Association Family"
